Bizzy Lizzy

Whew the week is drawing to a close! Poor Joel has to work all weekend but we'll make the most of the time we do have. It seems I was only at home to sleep, wake up and eat breakfast these last few days. Hannah has been so good with updating and I keep trying too! Here is my recap from our Monday marathon.

After getting there and catching up Hannah had big plans to start working on these little wall pockets that are based on the idea in Sew Pretty Home style.

We made three and made minor adjustments to each one. I love them, although I am a sucker for anything with lots of pockets so the idea of creating them is fabulous to me.

The first one we attached a ribbon to but we thought the pockets construction wasn't as crisp and refined as we would have liked it. The second one (not pictured) came out better. The scalloped edge was a bit more even . And the third we did away with the scalloped edge for a straight one that we pressed at every step. I think it came out the best. I think we will still play with the type of interfacing we use and how we will sew the ribbon onto the pocket but they're fun to experiment with right now.

Next up is some furniture hunting and fabric boxes...

Uploading - Downloading--???

I have so many things that I would like to share with everyone. I have been having so much fun crafting lately. Though, I can't figure out when it has been happening. Bart has been away for four days and the girls have needed a lot of attention. It is amazing how much you can get done with a baby on your back.

I bought two books yesterday. Don't tell Bart. Hehe. Borders keeps sending me these coupons. I saved 40% on a book. That would have been a good deal, had I not bought two books and hit the sale section too. I am such a book person. I think I am going to have to add craft books as a line item on our monthly budget.

I am going upload??? or is it download??? a few pics - they are older - due to my not being able to put pics on the computer without that silly cord. I will have it tomorrow. I want to be able to show you the pics of the holders Lizzy and I made and the awesome tutus Heidi Boyd and I made today. Have I mentioned how much I love making art?

One Year!

Can you beleive it? Nina joined our family one year from March 16th. We enjoyed our family day with some good Chinese food and a cake. We watched family videos that she was not interested and felt very thankful for all of our blessings. I will upload a recent pic of her. I hope.

I enjoyed my Frayed Edges Art quilt group on Monday. Nina joined me, but it went pretty well. I shared my needle felted girls and Kathy joined me in making another. I will try to upload pics of the day. I loved seeing my Frayed Edges group. They always inspire me so much. Kathy is working on a wonderful quilt that you can see on her blog Studio in the Woods. It is one of links on the page. One day I will be able to put a link in as I write. HELP!

I took my father to the airport today. He is returning to Florida where he works in the flea market circut. He was talking to me about doing flea markets here in Maine with some of my treasures that I have been accumilating and making. Maybe that will be fun for the summer. It is so hard to put yourself out there. What if nobody likes my stuff? What if I hit it big? Well...that one is easier for me to answer. Maybe I will start with an ETSY store. The only problem with that ....I hate going to the post office. My friend Deborah of Deborah's STudio can attest to that. She just got her Christmas gift a week or two ago.

Birthday Season

Well I have been forcefully creative this last weekend and will be this upcoming weekend. I have about seven birthdays between today and a month from now and I am trying desperately to make thoughtful gifts for people. I have been commissioned to do two necklaces made from horse hair. They can be really beautiful and a great way to remember our four legged friends when they pass on. Last year we lost two of our very old and wonderful horses so I am making necklaces from pieces of their tails. A great website for an example of this is here. I made a quick card with my new printer for Joel's sister. That's Loki holding a present for her. Well time to get Birthday planning, I have two cakes to make for Joel's birthday this weekend.

Oh and a quick word for Hannah she may lavish praise on my for my computer merits but Hannah is truely but modestly a very creative and artistic individual and she boggles my mind with how much she makes time for! Go Hannah cause I could have a blog without you but I might not have the outlets that I do with out you.

Happy Birthdays and have a Happy week!

Until tomorrow!

Sea Glass Girls

I still haven't told all my friends about the blog. I want to try to be more consistant about it and then let them all in. I think I am going to have to use willpower and not surf all my favorite blogs first - but blog first and then take a peek. I thought I would share a picture of one of my sea glass girls. I am still having fun making them. Lizzy and I were talking about giving them names or have them each have an inspirational thought that could follow her to her new home. Lizzy is so great with the computer end that she is going to attempt the tag (thank goodness) I don't have to.

I will try to post a picture of the needle felted little bunnies I am making for Easter. I am trying to keep my camera in the same spot - but that has not happened yet. So ....until it is found the bunnies are not available.....tomorrow. Hannah

I'M Here and ready!

Yipppeee! Thank you Lizzy. I could never have done this without you. I am so glad to now be in the world of bloggers and to have a blogging buddy. I have been an avid reader for so long and am thrilled to be joining many of my good friends who share their lives, art and adventures via their blogs. I started last week by joining mycraftivity and already I can't remember my password. Lucky for me to have another brain that understands the world of computers better than myself- to partner with in this new adventure. I would like to say that I am the looks in this venture that Lizzy and I are undertaking, but as you can see by our pictures she has that well covered. Hehe. Before any of my loyal friends or family members comment on my sometimes low self image I will quickly add that I too have many attributes and interests that I hope to share with everyone right here....on our blog.

Lizzy and I created this heart on Monday with a part of my sea glass collection. I love the bright sea glass against the snow background. Happy day to all.

Hot Tamales

Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!!!

Thank you so much for joining Hannah and Lizzy on their first posting. It is a place where we can share are love for all things crafty, artful, and our musings on what we encounter in our day to days.

Hannah loves everything crafty from fabric art and jewelry and collages to mixed media art. Her love for nature and pursuit for what brings happiness to her life is reflected in all that she creates. She is mother to four wonderful daughters, has a supportive and wonderful husband, and lives by her inspirational ocean. "I love trying new things and work best with my little people in close range."

Lizzy is now awakening to her passion to create and relishing it. I love to try and create art for my first home and enjoy outfitting it in new and quirky ways. I have two wonderful doggies and a equally creative beau. I am classic with a flair for offbeat.
